Michael Delport

Founder & CEO

Michael Delport, South African-born, first landed in Australia in 1981 for a Rotary Exchange year. After returning home for further studies and 15 months of compulsory national service, he immigrated to Australia at the end of 1984. Today he barracks for Australia when they take on South Africa – proof that anything can change. He’s a big believer that life should be full of firsts. Whether you’re in your 30s, 60s, or anywhere in between, it’s never too late to take on something new.

Michael Story

He has spent more than 35 years in financial planning, 25 in property development and the last 15 focused on consultancy. Through his company, the Delport Group, he helps people take their next steps in business, property and life. His career began with AMP in 1990, moving from insurance agent to Certified Financial Planner, before expanding into property development in 2000. Along the way he completed his Diploma of Financial Planning from RMIT and an Executive MBA from the University of Sydney.

Michael now lives in Queensland with Vicki, his wife of more than 40 years. They have two married children and love any time spent together as a family. Outside of work, he enjoys a physical challenge, squash, swimming, hiking and the occasional nail-biting sporting finish.

After a setback in the Serengeti scuttled his first attempt to climb Kilimanjaro, Michael regrouped and returned. A year later, with a great group of friends and a lot more perspective, he stood at the summit. His personal faith was deeply tested during his Serengeti experience…

Serengeti Serendipity is his debut book – a memoir born from that detour in Tanzania and a triumphant return to the summit of Kilimanjaro. It is a story of resilience, community, second chances, and a life forever changed.
